Injury Update: Holly McNamara

Melbourne City FC can confirm that attacker Holly McNamara will miss the remainder of the Liberty A-League season after scans confirmed that she has torn the anterior crucial ligament (ACL) in her left knee.

The 19-year-old went down in the second half of Sunday’s 2-1 win over Sydney FC and was helped off the field by her Captain Emma Checker and teammate Rhianna Pollicina.

McNamara has been a breakout star of the competition, scoring 4 goals and assisting a further 3 times in her debut season. Her brilliant form earned the youngster her first Matlidas cap after she was called up to the Australian National Team for the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in January.

Everyone at the Club is shattered to hear the news and will do everything it can to support Holly and look forward to seeing her return to the pitch next season.

We wish her all the best in her recovery.
