Newly appointed Joeys Head Coach Peter Cklamovski has confirmed the 23-man squad for the 2018 AFC U-16 Championship Qualifiers, including City youngsters Luke Duzel, Ahmad Taleb and Nicholas Theodosiou.

Players from Hyundai A-League clubs, National Premier League sides and those based overseas will be brought together for the tournament in September and Cklamovski said finalising his squad was a difficult task.

“There has been some tough decisions made to get to the final 23 and that’s a good sign of the depth starting to get created within this age group,” said Cklamovski.

“We have attempted to broaden the net in terms of player scouting and this process is in its infancy and it will continue to evolve and improve.

The selection of the City group comes off the back of a successful tournament in China, securing third place in the 2017 Suning Cup.

The Joeys will head over in late September to face Cambodia, Vietnam and host nation Mongolia.

If Cklamovski’s side are to finish on top of their group, they will qualify to the 2018 AFC U-16 Championships to be held in Malaysia in 2018.
