Keeping up with City: Who’s been up to what over the offseason?

We’re now fully into the swing of the off-season, with our A-League Men’s squad enjoying a much deserved break after a hectic 2021/22 season.

It’s the perfect opportunity for players and staff alike to switch off and enjoy some downtime before preparations for next season begin in mid-July.

Given the boys are now a few weeks into their breaks, we thought we’d take a look at what they’ve been up to.

Scott Galloway has been a busy man in recent weeks, travelling across Europe with partner Tayla. Stop-offs in France, the UK and Greece have all been on the agenda, while Galloway was also in attendance at the recent France v Croatia UEFA Nations League fixture.

After a busy season including a month away from home in Thailand, Andrew Nabbout has been one of a number of players enjoying some much needed family time.

A trip to Fiji was up first for the Nabbout family, who have more recently spent some time in Queensland on Hamilton Island.

Goalkeeper Tom Glover has spent some of his break in Bali with partner Alexis, also catching up with a handful of ex-teammates in Nathaniel Atkinson, Stefan Colakovski and Ben Garuccio while holidaying.

The break did of course start a few weeks later for a number of key players; Mathew Leckie, Jamie Maclaren and Marco Tilio all involved in the Socceroos memorable qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Another who didn’t see his break start until a little later than most of the squad is our 2021/22 Rising Star, Jordan Bos. Following the conclusion of City’s season, Bos flew to Uzbekistan after being named in Australia’s squad for the AFC U23 Asian Cup.

He made five appearances at left-back across the tournament as Australia finished in fourth place.

Soon to make virtually the opposite move of much of City’s squad in flying to Melbourne rather than from it, Richard van der Venne shared a recent post about his excitement to join the Club following last week’s signing announcement.
