AFC Champions League football has arrived with Melbourne City to host Ventforet Kofu in their opening fixture of the new campaign at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium on Wednesday night.
Head Coach Rado Vidosic’s team will be eager to kickstart the competition with an important win at home in the Group Stage.
ACL football in Melbourne
It will be the first time City fans can watch their team in action at home in the competition as they take on the team from Japan.
City’s first ACL campaign was played in a hub hosted in Thailand due to COVID-19 restrictions. After finishing the Group Stage undefeated, a change in format saw City fail to progress to the knockout stages.
On the eve of City’s second ACL campaign, the team will be looking to go one step further with the added bonus and support of playing in front of the City fans.
First game at home
With a number of fresh faces bolstering Vidosic’s squad over the off-season, Wednesday night’s ACL clash presents the first chance for many of the team to play at our home ground.
If the Australia Cup is anything to go by, it’s been an impressive start for many of our new boys who will be eager to impress the City fans in their first match at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.
We’ve seen glimpses of their sheer quality, so don’t miss the chance to see the team live in ACL action.
