Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo said: “Milica is an experienced Serbian international with extensive experience in Europe.”

“Milica fits in to the City style of attacking football that coach Rado Vidosic has implemented in our W-League program. She is strong, mobile, scores goals and is a versatile attacking player who can play right across the front line.

“She will add further attacking options and firepower to an already impressive and exciting front third.”

Speaking on her signing, Milica Mijatović said: “I’m proud and happy to be joining Melbourne City FC.”

“For me, it’s a big opportunity to showcase myself as a footballer in the W-League and have the opportunity to play alongside a great group of players.

“It’s a big challenge and I’m looking forward to it. My ambition for the season is of course to win the league with Melbourne City, that’s what counts – I’m a winner and I want to win.”

Mijatović is a versatile footballer who has the ability to play through the midfield and as a target player in attack. The Serbian international utilises her strong distribution and ability to hold the ball.

Prior to joining Arna-Bjørnar, Mijatović represented Hammarby IF in Sweden (11 appearances) after she enjoyed two seasons (2016-2018) at ASPTT Albi in France. During her time in France, Mijatović made 32 appearances, including 21 appearances in her second season which saw her catch the attention of Hammarby.

In 2019, Mijatović joined Arna-Bjørnar in Norway from Hammarby where she has since made 22 appearances, netting seven goals. Starting in 21 of her 22 appearances, Mijatović has led the line for the team based in Arna, Bergen.

Following the international window, Mijatović will join Vidosic’s squad in Melbourne as the team prepares to kick-off their 2019/20 season against Newcastle Jets at No. 2 Sportsground in Newcastle on Sunday 17 November.
