Melbourne City FC announces three-year partnership with McDonald’s

Melbourne City FC can announce a three-year major partnership with McDonald’s, who will feature on Melbourne City FC’s home and away shorts during 2017/18 season.

McDonald’s will be Melbourne City’s Official Restaurant Partner and Official Coffee Partner, as well as Presenting Partner of the City Cup 2018 tournament, which will feature up to 150 local Victorian junior boys and girl’s teams, including 2000 players under the age of 13 who are part of the City Club’s affiliate program. The McDonald’s logo will appear on the men’s shorts during the 17/18 season.

As part of the partnership launch, Melbourne City’s new signing Polish midfielder Marcin Budzinski, met junior players from Melbourne City’s grassroots affiliate club Watsonia Heights FC at the City Football Academy.

Melbourne City FC CEO Scott Munn said;

“In partnering with our City Cup tournament, McDonald’s have made clear their long-term commitment to the development of junior football participation in Victoria. The City Cup tournament has grown from 24 teams to over 150 teams in just three years, an indication of the continuing growth of the game.”

McDonald’s Australia, Market Director, Southern Region, Antoni Martinez said that he hoped the partnership would grow participation in football across Victoria;

“Football is a sport that so many people are involved with and are passionate about, and we are absolutely delighted to partner with Melbourne City FC, and in particular support their City Cup tournament.
