Melbourne City FC can announce defender Chelsea Blissett will return to the club for the 2020/21 Westfield W-League season.
Blissett joined City for the 2018/19 season where she made six appearances, before returning last season and appearing seven times throughout a historic season which saw the Club take out the premiership and championship while remaining undefeated.
Blissett will be working hard and hoping for more opportunities this season as she looks to secure a spot in City’s starting XI.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:
“Chelsea has continued to flourish in our environment and we will continue to see that growth this coming season.
“She has the opportunity now to become a regular player and we are really pleased to be able to have her back again this season.
“Her re-signing will also help to keep the consistency in our playing group.”
Chelsea Blissett said:
“It wasn’t a very hard decision to come back, I think of City as my home and as my family.
“During the tough times through COVID I always thought it was the best idea for me to go back to a club where I feel safe and happy.
“I’m really hungry to cement my spot in the starting XI.
“I’ve been working really hard over the past couple of seasons, and over the off-season I had an arthroscope on my left meniscus and for me, holding a spot in the starting XI would represent all of the hard work I’ve been putting in paying off.”
