Melbourne City FC is delighted to announce the signing of American international Hailie Mace for the remainder of the 2018/19 Westfield W-League season as the Club aims for two wins from two to keep its finals hopes alive.
The 21-year-old brings great versatility to Head Coach Rado Vidosic’s squad, with the ability to play both as a forward and defender.
Mace enjoyed a breakout season with the national team in 2018, earning her first of three caps for the United States, making her debut against Mexico in Houston on April 8.
The UCLA product was drafted with pick 2 in the first round at the 2019 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) college draft on Thursday 10 January.
Born in Ventura, California, Mace joined UCLA Bruins in 2015, where she has continued to build on her strong college career.
Despite playing in just 13 games for UCLA in 2018, due to U.S. Women’s National Team commitments, Mace netted nine goals for her side which included three match-winners.
She played her first two seasons as a defender, before moving forward in 2017.
The American finished her Bruin career as a three-time All-Pac-12 honouree, two-time All-Region and 2017 first-team All-American.
Mace will be available for selection when City host Newcastle at C.B. Smith Reserve on Sunday night.
