Melbourne City FC can announce the signing of defender Julia Sardo.
A knee injury kept Sardo sidelined for over two years, denying her the opportunity to live out her dream of playing in the W-League until last season.
She played six games in the 2019/20 Westfield W-League season for Perth Glory and is also comfortable playing in midfield.
Sardo will return to playing football in her home city of Melbourne, over a year since she last played for Alamain FC in the NPL.
City Football Director Michael Petrillo said:
“We are very excited to welcome Julia to the club.
“She possesses both attacking and defensive qualities which allow her to play multiple positions and she also has a good understanding in positioning on the field and an ability to face forward with the ball.”
Julia Sardo said:
“I really wanted to stay in Melbourne this year, so I was really stoked that the opportunity came up to play at City.
“The thing that most excites me about joining City is the professionalism, being a part of the Club’s history, improving my game and the facilities are unbelievable.
“I’m really excited to meet everyone and get into training and be apart of the team.”
