Melbourne City FC can confirm it has signed promising young Australian goalkeeper, Tom Glover on a two-year deal ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The Sydney-born Olyroos shot-stopper joins the City after progressing through the youth system of English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur. During his time in North London, the 21-year-old played over 30 matches, joining Spurs as an Under-18, before progressing through to the club’s Under-21 and Under-23 sides. In 2017, Glover returned to Australia on loan to Central Coast Mariners (four appearances) before moving to Helsingborg in the Swedish first tier, Allsvenkan.

A precocious talent with a bright future, Glover made nine appearances for Australia’s Under-20s and three appearances for Australia’s Under-23’s, featuring in the same squad as fellow City Olyroos, Nathaniel Atkinson, Lachie Wales and Denis Genreau.

Melbourne City Director of Football, Michael Petrillo said:

“Tom is one of the brightest young Australian goalkeeping talents there is. We’re looking forward to working with him to help him continue his impressive development and challenge for game time this season,” said Petrillo.

“Tom has been in elite set ups before during his time with the national side and in the UK with Tottenham Hotspurs and will be able to share those high standards with other young players at the Club.”

Commenting on his arrival, Glover said:

“I want to challenge myself and compete for a regular spot in the side and look forward to getting stuck in.”
