Melbourne City FC signs Matildas goalkeeper Teagan Micah

Micah

Melbourne City FC can today announce the signing of goalkeeper Teagan Micah ahead of the 2020/21 Westfield W-League season.

Micah joins from Norwegian top flight club Arna-Bjornar where she was the number one keeper before returning home to Australia in October.

She has represented both the Junior Matildas and Young Matildas and was named in the senior Matildas squad for the 2019 World Cup in France but is still awaiting her first international cap.

Micah’s first stints in the W-League came at Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney. She played five games for the Wanderers in the 2015/16 season as an 18-year-old before she attended college at UCLA in America and was the number one keeper for four years.

She returned to Australia in December last year, signing with Melbourne Victory but didn’t manage to make an appearance before she made the move to Norway.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:

“We are delighted to welcome Teagan to the club, she is a future number one Matildas goalkeeper.”

“In the current Matildas set up she is number three, but with her age and the fact that she has just left the USA college system I believe that she has got a bright future at international level.”

“She is very mature for her age and will fit perfectly into our playing style,” Petrillo said, “Teagan is strong in protecting the air, possesses a good passing range and is good with dealing with through balls into the penalty area.”

Teagan Micah said:

“One of the things I am most looking forward to is having access to such great facilities and quality staff.”

“Other teammates have spoken so highly about City and everything the club has to offer so I am excited to get to work.”

“When you are playing weekly you start to realize areas that you want to improve on and start to fine tune your game, for me I was able to identify those areas (in Norway) and that will be my goal for the next 3-6 months, to absolutely hammer those areas and make them the best part of my game.”

Micah is the City’s first new signing, joining already Young Matilda Sofia Sakalis.

Stay tuned for plenty of W-League signing and re-signing announcements over the coming days as Dub Week continues!
