Melbourne City FC can announce the signing of Y-League Golden Boot Marco Tilio, goalkeeper Matt Sutton and midfielder Taras Gomulka ahead of the 2020/21 A-League season.
Tilio joins the Club on a three-year deal from Sydney FC where he spent four years in their youth academy before making his A-League debut in February 2020.
The 19-year-old exciting forward was pivotal to Sydney’s 2019/20 Foxtel Y-League success, picking up the Y-League Golden boot, netting a brace in the Grand Final to secure his side’s 2020 Y-League crown and has represented Australia at Under 20 level.
Sutton joins the Club on a two-year deal from Melbourne Victory, spending last season as part of the Y-League squad and deputising for Victory’s A-League squad after the resumption of the A-League season.
The 20-year-old goalkeeper graduated from the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra before heading to Melbourne in 2018, spending two seasons at Victory.
Gomulka joins the Club on a three-year deal from Adelaide United, bursting onto the scene with an impressive debut during the 2019/20 A-League resumption, starting in all five of the Reds’ matches.
The 18-year-old began his footballing journey at Adelaide City, Raiders and the South Australian NTC before a short stint with MetroStars saw him join United’s youth academy in 2018.

“Marco has impressed me greatly throughout his time in the Y-League and NPL and his senior A-League debut this season is testament to the talent he is.
“He is a quick, dynamic winger or midfielder who is aggressive, with an eye for goal and is the type of player we are looking for as we continue to build our squad.
“Matt is a young, very talented goalkeeper who we feel fits the mould to work alongside Tom Glover for the upcoming season and beyond.
“He has impressed during his time in the Y-League and we feel he can develop into a senior goalkeeper with the players and coaching staff at Melbourne City.
“Taras is a deep-lying midfielder who has exhibited his potential at NPL, Y-League and importantly at A-League level in South Australia.
“He showed maturity beyond his years during the A-League resumption – demonstrating both technical and tactical abilities that makes him well suited to our style of play – and will continue to develop as a footballer at Melbourne City.

Taras Gomulka said:

Tilio, Sutton and Gomulka join Aiden O’Neil as the Club’s latest signings ahead of the 2020/21 season. They will report into CFA Melbourne for the A-League side’s return to training ahead of the 2020/21 season on October 5.
Melbourne City FC can also confirm the departure of Gianluca Iannucci. The 19-year-old joined the academy in 2017 and has played an important role in the Club’s Y-League and NPL teams. The Club would like to thank Gianluca for his contribution and wishes him well for the future.
