Melbourne City host first IFTAR dinner

Melbourne City FC held its first Iftar dinner on Tuesday night, inviting a range of community leaders and representatives to take part in Ramadan celebrations.

The dinner is the evening meal which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset and Melbourne City FC CEO Scott Munn and Head of Community Sue Crow hosted the event in Etihad Airways’ suite at AAMI Park.

Yasin Erdogan had the honour of announcing the prayer throughout the stadium while NYL player Yusuf Ahmed shared his experiences to the room that included Assistant Commissioner Victoria Police Andrew Crisp, Director Islamic Council of Victoria Nazeh Baarini, Mayor, City of Banyule Mark di Pasquale, Principal, Sirius College, Serdar Takimoglu, Secretary Somali Australian Council of Victoria Dr Hussein Haraco, Victorian Multicultural Commission member Tina Hasseini, Himilo Community Connect member, Mahad Abdirahman and Australian Intercultural Society member Mujdat Keser.
