The home side were dealt an early blow as Aaron Mooy put City ahead inside four minutes from the penalty spot. Five minutes later Robert Koren would double the visitors lead when he secured his first A-League goal, before Irishman Damien Duff followed suit.

Newcastle hit back in the 56th minute when Craig Goodwin found the back of the net, a goal that proved to spark an entertaining four-goal second-half that saw Heart hold on at home. Zadkovich equalised for the Jets in the 63rd minute, before Garcia looked to have secured his brace and the three points. It wasn’t to be for Heart, who were forced to share the spoils following an 87th minute equaliser by Ryan Griffiths.
