Melbourne City record books were rewritten in 2020/21, with Jamie Maclaren and Scott Jamieson ascending to the top of the club’s goalscoring and appearances lists respectively over the course of the season.
Season 2021/22 promises to be another big one for milestones in both squads, and attentions will first be turned to experienced campaigner Rebekah Stott.
The Kiwi will into move outright first on our all-time A-League Womens appearances list when she takes to the pitch for the first time in 2021/22, surpassing former captain and close friend Steph Catley to record 63 appearances overall.
Stott heads into her sixth season at City and boasts an incredible two Premierships and four Championships from her time with the club so far.
Tyla Jay Vlajnic (40 appearances) can also bring up her 50th appearance for both the Club and league this season, while new signing Kaitlyn Torpey (47) is also closing in on half a century of league appearances.
Over in the Mens squad, City could be set to welcome two new members to the 100 club, with Curtis Good (97 appearances) and Nathaniel Atkinson (75) both capable of reaching a century of games played in a City shirt. Only David Williams (103) and Scott Jamieson (105) have achieved this feat previously.
Rostyn Griffiths is also set to bring up a significant career milestone in 2021/22, City’s new #5 just three appearances away from bringing up 200 A-League Men games played. On top of his 60 league games for City, Griffiths’ appearances tally is also composed of stints with Adelaide United, North Queensland Fury, Central Coast Mariners and Perth Glory.
Impending centurions Good and Atkinson won’t be the only players celebrating important club milestones this season, with Scott Galloway (48), Connor Metcalfe (48), Tom Glover (42) and Stefan Colakovski (28) all within reach of 50 games played for Melbourne City.
Recent North Macedonia U21 international Colakovski will need to build on his 21 appearances in 2020/21 if he is to reach the milestone this season.
New signing Mathew Leckie will also likely bring up 50 A-League Men appearances in 2021/22, currently sitting on 35 going into the season.
