NPL wrap: Seniors stall as juniors begin brightly

NPL wrap: Seniors stall as juniors begin brightly

Melbourne City FC recorded mixed results in the NPL Victoria competition over the weekend with our Senior and U20 sides going down while our U18 and U15 picked up wins over Eastern Lions.

Saturday’s results for the older groups saw the Seniors go down to the Lions 1-0 as a sole Tom Falconer strike secured the result for the hosts. A 3-1 loss in the U20’s rounded off a rare pointless day for the academy sides which was the first in our time in the competition.

It was a different story for City’s youth sides on Sunday at Gardiners Creek Reserve as our U18’s and U15’s played their first matches for the club in the junior competition.

Davey van’t Schip’s U18’s side took out a 5-0 win with Raphael Borges Rodriguez, Tom Lambiris, Dom Folino, Charbel Shamoon and Daniel Lucente on the score sheet while Simon Zappia’s U15 side prevailed 4-2 thanks to two goals from Giorgio Serdenes, Adrian Tairi and Thomas Pisani.

Up next for the Senior sides is Box Hill United on Saturday while the juniors face FC Bulleen Lions on Sunday.
