PFA TOTS: Six City stars recognised

It’s been a season to remember at Melbourne City and plenty of big names were recognised for their memorable performances on Monday.

Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) revealed their Team of the Season on Monday, with six City players in the mix, including Jordan Bos who was named captain.

Voted on by their peers across the A-League Men’s competition, Bos received the most votes of any player.

Jamie Maclaren was recognised once again, named in the team for the fifth time in his career and fourth year in a row. It was a prolific year in front of goal for Maclaren, taking out yet another Golden Boot (24 goals) and being crowned the A-Leagues all-time leading scorer in the process.

Despite missing an eight-game stretch mid-season, Mathew Leckie stellar form throughout a campaign where he recorded seven goals and seven assists earned him a spot in midfield.

He was joined by Aiden O’Neill, who had a breakout season after an injury interrupted last few years.

So good was the form of O’Neill, he received a Socceroos call-up in March, making his debut and playing the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 win over Ecuador.

Curtis Good made it back-to-back appearances and was included on the bench alongside fellow Socceroo, Marco Tilio.
