Off the Pitch: Gameiro, Retre celebrate Euros, Sorensen in Townsville and Matildas in Rio

Welcome to Off the pitch, where we keep you across everything Melbourne City on the other side of the white line from Twitter and Instagram to the column inches in the media.

Euro 2016 was a special one for Corey Gameiro and Paulo Retre, both of Portuguese heritage, as the national team picked up its first piece of major silverware (and Steve Kuzmanovski got in on the act as well).

After a bit of a unlucky weekend .. what a way to turn that around with a Portugal win ?? #portugal #euro2016

Keeper Thomas Sorensen was up in Townsville for our pre-season camp announcement last weekend while also attending the Townsville 400 for Nissan Motorsport’s special Melbourne City livery race. The Great Dane also jumped in the hot seat with Nissan’s Michael Caruso for a hot lap of the street circuit. See some of his highlights.

Our community team were also in the thick of the action this week, receiving awards, performing clinics and supporting a whole range of initiatives throughout Victoria.

Our W-League Olympians are in Rio preparing for the massive tournament and the girls are making the most of it on and off the track.

Finally back with my better half ??
