Program Profile: Blind Football

Melbourne City’s support of Blind Football has seen the Club hold a range of different clinics and programs for those with vision impairment and complete loss of sight.

City in the Community works closely with Blind Sports Victoria and Social Goal Australia to deliver a range of blind football clinics to all participants, not just those who have difficulties with sight.

The modified version of the game uses an audible ball as participants use the sound to guide them towards the ball. The outfield players wear eye-shades to equal their sight but the goalkeeper can be fully or partially sighted. The game is an internationally recognised sport that is played at the Paralympics.

The Club has also delivered a blind football program with Guide Dogs Victoria and has worked with the Melbourne Manchester City Supporters Club to deliver blind football clinics across the city.
