Program Profile: City Pathways

Melbourne City’s City Pathways program with Club Partner MatchWorks brings a holistic approach to getting active and finding employment for participants from a wide range of social, economic, physical and cultural backgrounds.

Alongside our City Sisters program – which was designed specifically for female job seekers aged 17-24 – and City Start – which helped unemployed and under-employed, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) job seekers – City Pathways has helped 88% of its participants to gain work or education placement.

The program consists of two parts. The first is a football session run by our community team which helps participants use football as a social networking tool as well as promoting physical and mental wellness during difficult periods.

The second is run by MatchWorks where participants head into the classroom to learn how to write CV’s, prepare for job interviews and take tips on appropriate attire and appearance for interviews.

City Pathways is nominated for the 2017 Darebin Business Awards for Community Contribution after City Sisters received 2016 award.
