Report: Mariners 2-3 City

Melbourne City FC captain Bruno Fornaroli marked his 50th A-League appearance with a brace as the Uruguayan inspired City to a 3-2 win over Central Coast Mariners on Sunday afternoon.

Fornaroli opened the scoring with a perfectly-placed free kick in just the fourth minute, before City doubled its lead at Central Coast Stadium through a Nick Montgomery own goal.

With City cruising, the home side found a lifeline through Fabio Ferreria’s long-range deflected free kick in first half added time.

The scores were level two minutes into the second half when Ruon Tongyik turned into his own net after the restart.

The visitors continued to push forward in search for a third goal and found a breakthrough when Fornaroli was brought down in the box by Paul Izzo and slotted the resulting penalty home.
