Sarkies To Make Hyundai A-League Return Tonight

Melbourne Heart FC-s Kristian Sarkies is set to make his long awaited return to senior football after he was named in the final 15-man squad for the side-s match against the Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park tonight.

Sarkies has been sidelined since January this year having sustained a broken leg while playing for previous club Adelaide United in the National Youth League.

But after undergoing a comprehensive injury recovery program, the Victorian midfielder has been given the green light to step onto the park for the first time in Red and White this season.

Head Coach John van ‘t Schip said Sarkies- selection is just reward for his efforts in returning to full fitness.

”Kristian-s road to recovery has been long and quite tough, and the Club is proud to see him ready to return to the Hyundai A-League this evening,” he said.

“As a capped Socceroo and Olyroo, Kristian is a player of great quality and skill, and we look forward to the contribution he will be able to make to our team moving forward.”

Dean Heffernan and Jason Hoffman have also earned a recall to the Heart squad for tonight-s match, while John Aloisi has been rested ahead of the Melbourne Derby rematch at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
