Stefan Colakovski departs Melbourne City FC

We can today confirm the departure of Stefan Colakovski.

Much loved by fans, teammates, coaches and the Club as a whole, Colakovski joined City’s Academy as a 15-year-old after he and his family had been inaugural Members.

After progressing through the Academy ranks, he made his debut against Wellington Phoenix in March 2019, appearing off the bench in a 3-2 win.

Colakovski would go on to make 53 senior appearances for City across all competitions and found the back of the net four times.

Fans will fondly remember his debut A-League goal which came in a Melbourne Derby, Colakovski finishing coolly across the keeper to make it 6-0 and give City a then record win over its arch-rivals.

A few short months later, he was one of City’s best in a Finals Series that ended with an inaugural Men’s Championship. Colakovski was on fire in the Semi Final win in particular, scoring and assisting in the space of just two minutes.

Stefan Colakovski said:

“What a journey it has been. From sitting in the stands watching Melbourne Heart, to joining the Academy at 15 to playing a role in the Club’s first ever Premierships, Championship and Champions League campaign.

“I only look back on my time with City with great pride.

“To our fans, thank you for your support over the years. I always gave my all every time I put on the City shirt and you will always hold a special place in my heart.

“City has been and will be a family to me forever.”

We’d like to thank Stefan and his family for all they’ve contributed to the Club over the years, and we wish him all the best in the next step of his football journey.
