Melbourne Heart FC’s top scorer Josip Tadic has been given the green light to rejoin the senior squad in full training this week after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a broken toe.

The 25-year-old Croatian striker, who has netted six goals this season for the Red and White, suffered the injury in the Melbourne Derby in Round 19 on February 2 at Etihad Stadium.

Tadic had played a key role for Heart in the preceding 18 matches of which he made 15 starts in Head Coach John Aloisi’s line-up.

After missing matches against Perth Glory, Newcastle Jets, Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix, Tadic will hope to play a part in Heart’s match against Adelaide United, the team he last scored against, next Monday.

Tadic played an important role early in 2013, netting in three consecutive home wins against the Jets, Brisbane Roar and Adelaide taking his tally to six goals before his injury.

Tadic will give Aloisi further attacking options alongside Richard Garcia, David Williams, Eli Babalj and Golgol Mebrahtu.

Heart’s number 10 marks his return one week earlier than expected after Heart’s medical team deemed him fit to return to training this morning.
