Team News: Big inclusion for Semi Final Second Leg

It’s all on the line this Friday night, with Melbourne City set to face Sydney FC for a place in the 2023 A-League Men’s Grand Final.

The teams were unable to be split last week in a first leg that ended 1-1 with plenty of end-to-end action.

Mathew Leckie opened scoring when he headed home a bullet of a cross from Valon Berisha, before Sydney were able to equalise in the second half through a re-taken penalty.

This sets up a blockbuster second leg at AAMI Park, and Rado Vidosic is set to welcome back a key member of his squad who missed the away leg due to back spasms.

Aiden O’Neill has been named in the squad after Vidosic said in his pre-match press conference that the Socceroos midfielder had trained fully during the week and was set to return.

This comes as a big boost to the City line-up, but also will force Vidosic into a tough call on the makeup of his XI, should O’Neill be ready to be on the pitch from the first whistle.

Defender Jordon Hall has also been promoted to the extended squad, which two will be omitted from an hour before kick-off.
