Team News: City set eyes on Mariners

The teams are in for Saturday’s New Year’s Eve clash with the Central Coast Mariners in Gosford. See who’s in and who’s out of this week’s side.

The major out this week for City is the suspension to Fernando Brandan after his send-off against Perth Glory.

The forward was served with a two-match ban for the incident in the final minutes of the match that saw him and Dino Djulbic ejected from the game and the Argentine accepting his penalty from the Match Review Panel, handed to him on Wednesday.

City see the return of Paulo Retre, Connor Chapman and Jose Rose to the extended side for the New Year’s Eve encounter while young guns Denis Genreau and Daniel Arzani have also retained their spots in the squad.

City Head Coach John van’t Schip also confirmed that Michael Jakobsen will sit out at least another week with his calf injury. The Dane has progressed well with the short turnaround hampering his chances of playing.

van’t Schip said he’ll be close to selection next week alongside Osama Malik who’s quad injury has progressed well.

City take on the Central Coast Mariners on New Years Eve ad Central Coast Stadium, kick-off at the earlier time of 7.00pm. See all the action live on Fox Sports 505.
