Team News: City set for Nix clash

Melbourne City Head Coach Warren Joyce has named an unchanged squad for Saturday’s clash with Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park as they search for their third win to open the season.

It’s a clean bill of health for a fit and firing City with the only injury concern from the match coming through the early substitution of Osama Malik.

After a strong tackle from Rhys Williams and a later challenge in the middle of the park, Malik exited the match before half time with the lower leg knock proving too much for the midfielder to continue.

A week of recovery has seen the defensive midfielder up for selection once again and with the impressive introduction of Marcin Budzinski, Joyce will have another tough selection decision to make come Saturday.

Neil Kilkenny and Luke Brattan have been added to the extended side that will be cut down to sixteen 90 minutes before kick-off and the duo will be after a prized spot on the team sheet with the side the strongest it has been for quite some time.

Bruno Fornaroli remains on the long-term injury list while Fernando Brandan is continuing his fitness work to be match ready in the coming weeks.
