Melbourne City FC can today confirm the return of experienced defender Teigen Allen for the upcoming 2020/21 Westfield W-League season.
Allen has made 112 W-League appearances, including 13 matches for City as part of the club’s championship winning team in 2016-17.
Since making her W-League debut in 2009, Allen has established herself as one of Australia’s best full-backs and has 40 Matildas caps to her name.
Allen was also part of a Sydney team which did the double in 2009 and won another premiership with Melbourne Victory in the 2018-19 season.
She has also spent time overseas, playing in the NWSL in America in 2014 and in the Norwegian top flight in 2017.
Melbourne City FC Director of Football said:
“Teigen is a versatile and experienced defender who has been with our club previously so is well versed in our playing style.
She is a great professional who is technically adept and well suited to our way of playing. We are really pleased to have a Maltilda like Teigen who is still ambitious and looking to keep challenging and improving herself choose to return to an elite football program like ours.”
Teigen Allen said:
“I want to become the best footballer I can without taking shortcuts and I want to purely prioritise football.
“I believe City has created an environment over the past years where the players can be a full time footballer and not revolve the training schedule around anything but what it will take to get the best out of the team.
“Success is in City’s blood and I want and will give everything I have to play my role in the team to my best ability and help City have another successful season.”
