Brazilian striker Alex Terra has been ruled out for at least a fortnight after suffering a hamstring strain during Saturday night-s match against the Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park.

Terra was replaced in the 72nd minute of the contest after reporting hamstring tightness, with a subsequent MRI scan late yesterday confirming the extent of the 28-year-old-s injury.

While disappointed with the prognosis, General Manager, Football Operations John Didulica is confident Terra will return before the end of the month.

“It-s obviously disappointing to lose Alex, particularly given we-ll be losing Mate (Dugandzic), Hoffy (Jason Hoffman) and Aziz (Behich) for the next fortnight through international duty,” he said.

“Our medical team did a fantastic job in getting Fred back before schedule, so I-ve no doubt that when Alex returns, he-ll once again be a valuable player.”
