Club photographer Aleks Jason had an absolute blast documenting our season from start to finish this season as he looks at some of his top pics.
Pre-match Rituals
Pre game rituals are always interesting. It is not only fascinating to see the comparison of goalkeepers like Dean preparing for matches to forwards like Bruno but the mix of football cultures and backgrounds is what makes it even more intriguing. Documenting pre-match is something I always I’ve wanted to do. This shot from the FFA Cup match against Sydney at Leichhardt Oval also shows how players need to adapt in preparation from the comfort of AAMI Park to the local grounds of Australia.
Call-out, City
Another shot from the FFA Cup at Leichhardt Oval. This was a very different walk-out for the boys. Slick kits against the rough, exposed walls…that’s what we love about football sometimes and what made this such a good shot.
Spiritual Leader
What Patrick Kisnorbo means to the Club speaks for itself and this ritual that eventuated after his move to the A-League side shows his do or die attitude on and off the pitch. An intense moment but an important one as a coach farewells the player onto the pitch, showing they are with them all the way.
What the gull?
Frustrating for fans but it looks like the gulls are here to stay. Makes for some good snaps…
Arise Arzani
Hasn’t this kid been something special this season? I’ve seen him do his thing at the Club since he arrived and knew his time would come. Arzani was ever-present and always made it easy for mid-game portraits.
Blue skies at CFA
It’s always sunny at CFA Melboure…Well, not always.
Tunnel vision
One part of the job I’m ever so grateful for, witnessing angles many don’t.
El Tuna returns
A moment we all waited for. The emotional comeback of Bruno Fornaroli and his first goal back since his injury. I saw him on the good days and the bad during his recovery and to know the story behind this emotion is what makes this shot special to me.
Dario’s moment
This guy was a revelation this season. We all know his quality and now – in an environment where he can prosper – he showed his class. This shot, his first goal in City Blue.
Home game nerves
Walking out for the first time at AAMI Park on your starting debut would be something pretty nerve-wracking. Nathaniel Atkinson’s home debut against the Mariners was a big moment for the youngster and riding that wave of emotion with him as something special.
