City ALW stars Kaitlyn Torpey and Rhianna Pollicina have been recognised for their stellar seasons in City blue, named in the PFA A-League Women’s Team of the Season.
Recognised by their peers, the player-voted team sees Torpey named as the starting right-back with Pollicina on the bench.
Torpey has been one of City’s most important players this season, combining her defensive strengths with her ability to create chances through her driving forward runs. In her second season at the club, the 23-year-old fullback was also able to find the back of the net on two occasions.
Pollicina has been instrumental in attacking midfield this season, netting 10 goals in 18 games – more than any other City player. City’s Golden Boot winner played a pivotal role in her side’s top-four finish.
About the PFA Team of the Season
ALW players competing in the 2022/23 campaign voted on the composition of the squad, which considers player performances across the ALW’s 18 regular season rounds.
The team is spread across a preferred Starting XI (based on the number of votes received by each player) and placed in the formation which receives the highest number of votes from the players. The five players with the second-highest number of votes in each position are placed on the Team of the Season’s bench.
