Van ‘t Schip Delighted With Sarkies Return

Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van ‘t Schip has heralded Kristian Sarkies’ successful return from injury as the equivalent of a new signing for the Club.

Melbourne Heart FC Head Coach John van ‘t Schip has heralded Kristian Sarkies- successful return from injury as the equivalent of a new signing for the Club.

Sarkies has made a significant impression since returning from injury, with his stellar passing range and vision providing the side with a boost.

Van ‘t Schip said the Victorian-s return has been a bonus for the side during a difficult period of the season, but admitted he is cognisant of managing his workload given the former Olyroo-s interrupted pre-season.

“Sarkies is an extra player for us, coming back from an injury, like a new player,” he said.

“The difficult thing now with Kristian is that, not having a pre-season, we can’t fit him in the normal way that would be good for him, but we have our thoughts about how we can get him into the game and let him play as long as possible.”

With Heart searching for its first win in a month, van ‘t Schip acknowledged a win on Friday night is crucial to reigniting the Club-s surge to the finals.

And van ‘t Schip believes a win against second placed Adelaide United is not beyond his side, stating Heart simply needs to commence converting its scoring chances.

“The longer the run of not winning continues you also know it’s going to be difficult to get into the playoffs, so we have to start getting results as soon as possible,” he said.

“Creating chances is not the problem but finishing is at the moment and of course we get some goals against very easy.

“There are both sides that we have to work on but the game itself is OK.”
