W-League Report: Sydney 3-2 City

W-League Report: Sydney 3-2 City

Melbourne City FC led twice but were ultimately left frustrated by a late goal as Remy Siemsen struck in injury time to hand Sydney FC a thrilling 3-2 win at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.

City opened the scoring on 43 minutes when Alanna Kennedy’s powerful header was diverted into the net by Sydney defender Elizabeth Ralston, before Georgia Ledbrook equalised for the hosts two minutes later in a dramatic end to the first half.

In-form forward Larissa Crummer put City back in-front in the second half with a neat volley from Rhali Dobson’s cross, but Patrick Kisnorbo’s side were pegged back again when Teresa Polias found the top corner from distance to level the scores.

The hosts were not to be denied as substitute Remy Siemsen swept home in stoppage time to complete the fightback and condemn City to its second defeat of the season.

City has a bye in Round 5, before returning to W-League action against Adelaide United at CB Smith Reserve on Sunday 3 December.
