City football is set to take over AAMI Park this Saturday evening for one last time before the World Cup break.
Despite dropping points for the first time of the season last Round, Patrick Kisnorbo’s men remain top of the table ahead of this weekends clash against the Glory.
Jamie Maclaren’s fifth goal of the season had City ahead early following a penalty won by Marco Tilio, who added his own name to the scoresheet not long after.
While these goals from the Socceroos duo put the team in a great position, City wasn’t able to kill off the game and would’ve been disappointed to concede twice in the final 15 minutes as Wellington salvaged a point.

Further adding to Kisnorbo’s headaches in those dying stages was a second yellow card picked up by Thomas Lam, ruling the Finnish defender out of this Saturday’s clash against Perth.
The impending return of Nuno Reis could make things a little easier at the selection table though, while Scott Jamieson could also see himself back in the starting line-up in the role he’d played earlier this season.
Perth has scored the second least goals of any team in the competition, but you wouldn’t imagine Kisnorbo and co. will be taking them any lighter.
Glory’s fixture to start the season hasn’t made life any easier for them either, with Saturday marking a fifth consecutive away clash.
Most recently they were in action away to Adelaide last Sunday and would’ve felt a little stiff to go down 2-1 with Giordano Colli on the scoresheet with what could well go down as the goal of the season.
City fans won’t want to spend too much time thinking about our last clash against Perth, the team detouring west on their way back from Asia and going down 2-0 late last season.
The last meeting at AAMI Park did end a little better though, Nathaniel Atkinson netting a late winner with what would be his final goal in a Melbourne City shirt.
While we’re on the topic of former City fan favourites, we could also be set to see another return to AAMI Park this Saturday evening, with former City attacker Stefan Colakovski added to Glory’s squad.
