WE KEEP BUILDING

After ending 2024 with three consecutive draws, we’ve begun 2025 in an ideal fashion.

Aurelio Vidmar’s side has collected maximum points from our first two games of the year, recording back-to-back clean sheets along the way.

The defensive unit of Callum Talbot, Samuel Souprayen, Kai Trewin, and captain Aziz Behich has been rock solid at the back, supported by the midfield stability provided by Steven Ugarkovic and Nathaniel Atkinson.

Patrick Beach has also been faultless in goal to begin the year, particularly impressive last time out against Western United.

While we’ve been relying on a younger and less experienced attacking group, this solid foundation has allowed us to stay defensively sound and limit opposition chances.

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

With a host of Socceroos and internationals sidelined, our young guns have stepped up in style and continue to impress with every outing.

In Tuesday’s win, both goals showcased the talent of our Academy products. Ben Mazzeo and Harry Politidis were involved in both, while Arion Sulemani and A-League debutant Lawrence Wong played a crucial hand in one each.

A few days earlier, Politidis was on the scoresheet again, while Kavian Rahmani and Mikey Ghossaini combined brilliantly to assist Nathaniel Atkinson’s goal – of course, another Academy graduate.

As we prepare for our fourth game in just 11 days, Vidmar may be tempted to rotate his squad with plenty of young talents champing at the bit to get involved and make an impact.

A HUNGRY OPPONENT

Saturday marks the second meeting with Brisbane this season, with the first clash back in Round 7 ending in a dominant 4-1 away win for City.

Andreas Kuen opened the scoring within 30 seconds and later assisted a brace for Yonatan Cohen, while Steven Ugarkovic added a late goal to seal the win.

With Kuen and Cohen currently sidelined through injury, our younger attacking unit will again be tasked with creating chances and finding the back of the net.

Currently sitting at the foot of the table with just two points, Brisbane will be desperate to turn their season around, with this set to be a clash against a determined and hungry opponent.
