For just the second time in 2025, both City squads will be in action for a massive AAMI Park doubleheader this Saturday night.
Our Men’s squad will kick off proceedings against Perth Glory at 5:00pm, before our still-unbeaten City Women host Sydney FC at 7:45pm.
With six crucial points on the line, both teams will be eager to claim victory for different reasons.

Aurelio Vidmar’s men started 2025 strongly with three consecutive home wins but have since endured a tough run on the road, suffering three straight defeats that have seen us drop out of the top six—albeit with games in hand.
Meanwhile, Michael Matricciani’s squad is riding a Club-record 19-game unbeaten streak but faces a Sydney FC side that has proven to be a tricky opponent. Our two previous meetings this season both ended in 1-1 draws, with City coming from behind on each occasion thanks to goals from Lourdes Bosch and Leticia McKenna.

Now, both head coaches have confirmed their squads ahead of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Vidmar will again be without Kai Trewin (groin) and Andreas Kuen (hamstring), although both are tracking well and are likely to be in contention for next Saturday’s Melbourne Derby.
Youngsters Harry Shillington and Ben Dunbar have been promoted to the extended squad and could feature against Perth.

Looking ahead, Alessandro Lopane continues to progress strongly in training and is on track to see Youth Team minutes next weekend as he builds back to full match fitness.
Meanwhile, Yonatan Cohen (knee) and Jimmy Jeggo (achilles) remain sidelined but are making good progress in their rehab, with both expected to return in the latter stages of the season. Andrew Nabbout and Jayden Necovski both ticked off big milestones in their recoveries from ACL injuries this week, running for the first time since surgery.
On the Women’s side, Matilda Leah Davidson has made a quick recovery from a minor knee injury and is set to return against Sydney.

She’s joined by Emilia Murray, who has been promoted to the extended squad for this weekend’s clash.
