Melbourne City head to Western Australia this week, where they will take on Perth Glory in what looms as a blockbuster Good Friday clash.
With just one round remaining in the regular season, Michael Matricciani’s team has their sights firmly set on completing an undefeated campaign and lifting the Premiers Plate for a second consecutive year.
We take a look at the key talking points ahead of the action.
GOLDEN BOOT RACE CONTINUES
City’s firepower has been a defining feature all season, and last weekend was no different as Holly McNamara bagged a brilliant brace in the team’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Now sitting atop the Golden Boot leaderboard with 14 goals, McNamara has edged ahead of rival Emily Gielnik (12) with just one game remaining. Her electric pace, sharp finishing, and consistent threat in front of goal has been crucial to City’s attacking dominance this season.
With a tally of 51 goals scored in 22 games so far, City remain the league’s most prolific attacking unit, and McNamara will be hungry to seal the Golden Boot title with three points in Perth.
ONE TO GO
With just one regular season fixture remaining, three points against the Glory will see City complete an unprecedented unbeaten season and lift back-to-back Premiers Plates.
Eager to extend their winning momentum, Matricciani’s side will be looking to continue their run against a fierce Glory outfit at home.

Despite coming off back-to-back defeats, the Glory enjoyed a strong month of March and will be eager to finish their season on a high.
A win over the Glory would see City confirmed Premiers, while a draw would all but seal it, although it would not be official until the conclusion of Saturday’s clash between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar – where Victory would need to defeat Brisbane by 12 goals to surpass City on goal difference.
There’s no doubt City will need to be at their best if they’re to create history under lights on Friday.
FROM ROUND 1 TO ROUND 23
Just as the team started the 2024/25 Ninja A-League season, City will be looking to end it – with an important result against Perth Glory.
The two teams have faced each other once this season and it was all the way back in Round 1 at the ctrl:cyber Pitch as City finished 5-2 winners.

On that day, a second half blitz saw City come from two goals behind to net five goals in a half of football to secure their first win of the season. Rhianna Pollicina and Kathryn Harvey netted a brace each as Laura Hughes secured the win with a stoppage time finish.
This is set to be a huge Good Friday clash and you don’t want to miss it.
