The pathway to becoming the next Melbourne City star starts here, as the Melbourne City Football School prepares to host its Elite Squad Trials on Sunday 9 November at the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields.
We’re giving ambitious young footballers the chance to join the highest level of our City Football School program and take another step on our Player Development Pathway.
Open to boys born between 2014–2018 and girls born between 2013–2018, the Elite Squad is where talented players train in a professional environment under the City Football methodology, using the same football philosophy as English Premier League giants Manchester City and Melbourne City, developing the technical and tactical skills that form the foundation of our Academy.

This is the final step before our Academy, and a key step in the journey of some of our young stars.
We now have five players in our A-League Men’s squad who have progressed through the entire City Development Pathway, from the City Football School, through our Academy, and into the professional ranks. You could be the next to follow in the footsteps of players like Lawrence Wong, who began his journey in the City Football School before earning his first professional contract with City.
With the introduction of our Girls Academy, that same pathway now exists for aspiring female footballers, providing a genuine route to our back-to-back Premiership-winning A-League Women’s team. Junior Matilda Izabella Rako is a prime example, having started in the City Football School before signing her first professional contract with City ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Trial timings will be communicated closer to the date, but spots are limited and demand is already high.
