Here are the key talking points ahead of Sunday’s doubleheader against Perth Glory.
HOME SWEET HOME
City fans only had to wait five days for another home fixture, and after Tuesday night’s dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Melbourne Victory, the squad will be keen to make it two from two at AAMI Park in the space of a week.

The energy of a Derby win is still fresh, and with another doubleheader atmosphere on the cards, Sunday presents the perfect stage to finish the year on a high note.
As City continues to play catch up due to early-season schedule interruptions, every match is an opportunity to climb the ladder.
ATTACKING FIREPOWER
Matricciani’s attacking depth was on full display against Victory, with Holly McNamara starring in a new role and Chinaza Uchendu making a strong impression on her first City start.
McNamara’s move into the No. 10 role was impressive. The Matildas forward was everywhere, linking play, driving at defenders, and ultimately scoring the match-winner with a composed finish off a clever set-piece with six minutes of regulation time remaining.

Uchendu, leading the line, impressed with her movement and physical presence, while Aideen Keane and Danella Butrus provided plenty of width and danger on either flank. Keane’s deliveries caused all kinds of problems for Victory’s defence, forcing the equaliser and nearly creating more.
Off the bench, Deven Jackson and Karly Roestbakken impressed, playing important roles to help their side secure three crucial points.
With Bryleeh Henry, Shelby McMahon and Caitlin Karic out with injury, Matricciani’s attacking depth has been on full display and Sunday’s clash offers another chance for the front third to gel and grow.
FIRST LOOK AT GLORY
City will face Perth Glory for the first time this season, as the team looks to build on their recent form heading into a busy January schedule.
The last meeting between the two sides came in the final round of last season, when City claimed a memorable away win to secure the Premiers Plate. But Sunday presents an entirely new challenge.

Perth arrives in strong form, having won two on the bounce – 1-0 victories over both Wellington Phoenix and Adelaide United, with back-to-back clean sheets.
They’ll be full of confidence, defensively disciplined, and eager to spoil the party. But with home advantage, City will be eager to strengthen the momentum heading into the new year.
