Citizenship Ceremony Marks Special Day at Casey Fields

Melbourne City FC was proud to host a special citizenship ceremony ahead of Sunday’s Ninja A-League Women’s clash with Canberra United at the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields , welcoming 40 new Australian citizens.

Held for the first time at Casey Fields, the event recognised the City of Casey as one of the fastest growing and most multicultural councils in Australia, making it a fitting location to celebrate such an important milestone.

The ceremony was supported by Cassandra Fernando MP, Federal Member for Holt, Pauline Richards MP, State Member for Cranbourne, Jordan Crugnale MP, State Member for Bass, and City of Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen.

“Welcoming our newest citizens alongside Melbourne City FC shows the power of sport to bring people together,” City of Casey Mayor Stefan Koomen said.

“Today we celebrate 40 people becoming Australian citizens and beginning a new chapter as part of the Casey community. It’s wonderful to host our first citizenship ceremony here before the City Women take on Canberra United at Casey Fields, a place where people from all backgrounds come together, and a fitting setting to celebrate belonging, community and opportunity.”

The day continued with guests enjoying an entertaining match of football, with City securing a vital 3-1 win over fellow Premiers Plate contenders Canberra United.
