Melbourne City’s AFC Women’s Champions League Semi Final fixture has now been locked in, with Michael Matricciani’s side set to face Japanese outfit Tokyo Verdy Beleza in a huge clash in May.
Following Sunday’s dramatic Quarter Final win at the Home of the Matildas, City will now travel to South Korea for the next stage of the continental campaign, with the Semi Finals to be played in a centralised hub following the conclusion of our domestic season.
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled for Wednesday 20 May, with kick-off set for 3:00pm AEST (2pm local) at Suwon Sports Complex.
City enters the fixture full of confidence after securing progression in thrilling fashion, with a late winner sealing a 2-1 victory over PFC Nasaf. That result also capped off a historic day for the Club, confirming a third consecutive Ninja A-League Premiers Plate.
Standing in the way of a place in the Final is Tokyo Verdy Beleza, who have been in dominant form throughout the tournament. The Japanese side booked their Semi Final spot with an emphatic 5-0 win over Stallion Laguna in their Quarter Final, having earlier progressed through the Group Stage undefeated with two wins and a draw while not conceding a single goal.
City will be aiming to carry our strong form into the Semi Final as the Club looks to take another step towards continental silverware. Fans will be able to tune in and watch the action live via YouTube and Paramount+.
