City crowned Club Champions for fourth time in five years

Melbourne City FC has once again reinforced its status as the benchmark of Australian football, clinching the Club Championship for the fourth time in five seasons since the award’s inception.

The achievement underlines the strength of City’s football philosophy, recognising the combined success of both the Club’s men’s and women’s programs across the A-Leagues competitions.

Headlining this year’s triumph was another historic campaign from City’s Ninja A-League side, who secured a third consecutive Premiership, a feat never before achieved in the competition since the introduction of a full home-and-away season.

Michael Matricciani’s team continued to set the standard across the league, collecting 40 points from their 20 matches to seal the Premier’s Plate and extend their remarkable run at the top of the competition.

The three-peat not only cements this group’s place in Club history but also highlights the sustained excellence and consistency that has become synonymous with City’s women’s program.

On the men’s side, a strong finish to the Isuzu UTE A-League season proved decisive in securing the Club Championship, with City sealing top spot in the combined standings with games to spare.

The result marks yet another milestone in what has been a dominant era for Melbourne City, with the Club claiming all but one Club Championship since the trophy was introduced in 2021/22.

As both teams now turn their attention to the final stages of their respective campaigns, the latest Club Championship adds further silverware to an already decorated period and reinforces Melbourne City’s position as a leader in Australian football.
