Awer Mabil has arrived in Melbourne, and our newest Socceroo has wasted no time locking in a familiar number for his first season in City blue.
Mabil will wear the number 11 throughout the 2026/27 campaign, continuing his long association with the shirt at both club and international level.
For avid Socceroos fans, the choice will come as little surprise.
The 30-year-old has regularly worn number 11 for Australia across the past six years, including at the past two FIFA World Cups.

It’s also a number with plenty of significance throughout his club career, with Mabil wearing 11 for the majority of his 146 appearances with Danish side FC Midtjylland.
Most recently in Spain, our newest signing switched to number seven, although that one was already spoken for when he arrived in Melbourne, with Socceroos teammate Mathew Leckie having made it his own in City blue.
Mabil now becomes the latest in a long line of players to wear number 11 for the Club.
Elbasan Rashani most recently donned the shirt last season, while Premiership and Championship winner Craig Noone, Premier League veteran Damien Duff and former Socceroo Richard Garcia are among the other familiar names to have worn it.

Go all the way back to our inaugural 2010/11 season and you’ll find another fan favourite as the first to wear it… Brazilian cult hero Alex Terra!
Now, it’s Mabil’s turn.
And you can already rep our new number 11, with Mabil personalisation available now across our range of 2026/27 kits in the City Store.
