City increases attacking firepower with Austrian playmaker

Melbourne City FC is thrilled to have secured the signature of Austrian midfielder, Andreas Kuen, who will join the Club on a two-year contract with an option for an additional year.

A hard-working central midfielder, Kuen makes the move to Melbourne from Atromitos in the Greek Super League where he has spent the past two seasons.

The 29-year-old brings with him a wealth of European experience, having made over 100 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists.

Known for his elite passing range and ability to create chances out of nothing, the left-footed box-to-box midfielder is set to play a key role for City in the middle of the park.

Kuen’s exceptional work-rate makes him effective both with and without the ball, his relentless pressing high up the pitch regularly putting opposition defenders under pressure in dangerous areas.

Following the Austrian’s arrival, Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, spoke highly of Kuen’s quality.

“Andreas is a highly technical player who brings substantial experience to our squad.

“His ability to control the game and create opportunities will be crucial for us this campaign. We are delighted to have him on board for at least the next two seasons.”

Andreas Kuen spoke with excitement about the opportunity to join City.

“I’m excited to start this new chapter of my career here at Melbourne City. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Australia and everyone here at the Club has been very welcoming.

“Since joining up with the squad, it is clear we have an exciting group with many talented young players. I am ready to bring my experience to the team, fight for the badge, and ultimately bring home more silverware for our fans.

“I can’t wait to play at AAMI Park and show the City faithful what I can do on the pitch.”
