Melbourne City will be looking to continue our strong recent form when we return to AAMI Park for a midweek clash against Newcastle Jets on Wednesday night.
With a bye, an international break, and an away trip to Sydney FC ahead, this will be your last chance to see City in action at home until early April.

Given both teams’ recent form, it’s shaping up as a crucial contest in the race for finals football.
Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this midweek clash:
A HOT RUN OF HOME FORM
City has turned AAMI Park into a fortress in 2025, winning all five home fixtures this year while keeping a perfect defensive record.
Not only have we scored eight goals across those matches, but we are yet to concede a single goal in front of our home fans.
The most recent of those wins came on Friday night, as a professional 2-0 performance secured all three points against Macarthur.
After returning from a long injury layoff, Max Caputo found the net for the first time this season, scoring in both halves to cap off an impressive performance.
Patrick Beach was once again a standout in goal, securing his ninth clean sheet of the season—an equal A-League Men’s record.
The young shot-stopper has been in great form and will be key again against an in-form Newcastle attack.
TWO IN-FORM TEAMS COLLIDE
City has now gone unbeaten in our last four matches (3W, 1D), moving up to third on the ladder and holding a game in hand over Western United, who sit just one point ahead.
Meanwhile, Newcastle has also found their best form of the season, surging towards an unlikely finals berth with an unbeaten run of six matches (3W, 3D).
Their most recent away trip saw them claim all three points against Adelaide, further proving they’ll be a tough challenge on Wednesday night.
This will be our second meeting of the season, with our first clash coming way back in Round 1.
Marco Tilio made an immediate impact, scoring just two minutes into the contest to seal all three points on the road.
A CHANGE REQUIRED AT THE BACK
Head Coach Aurelio Vidmar will be forced into at least one change for Wednesday’s clash, with Germán Ferreyra ruled out due to a concussion sustained late in Friday night’s win.
The Argentine defender has been a mainstay in the lineup ads of late, playing all but six minutes of City’s last six fixtures.
His absence is a blow, but the solution seems relatively straightforward for Vidmar and his coaching staff.
Kai Trewin, who has featured in a defensive midfield role in recent matches, would seem likely to return to his natural position in the heart of defence.

That would open the door for Steven Ugarkovic to come back into the XI in midfield after overcoming a recent injury.
Alternatively, young gun Zane Schreiber provides another option in the holding midfieldrole should Vidmar opt for a different approach.
