Melbourne City FC can confirm Socceroo goalkeeper Patrick Beach has completed a permanent transfer to French Ligue 1 club Troyes for an undisclosed fee.
Beach departs Melbourne City after three outstanding seasons that saw him establish himself as the nation’s premier young shot-stopper, becoming an A-League Champion, Socceroo and Australia’s first-choice goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup.
The 22-year-old made 64 appearances across all competitions for Melbourne City, keeping 25 clean sheets while becoming one of the Isuzu UTE A-League’s standout goalkeepers.

Beach started every match of City’s 2024/25 Championship-winning campaign, capping the season with a clean sheet in the Grand Final victory over Melbourne Victory.
His outstanding club form earned him a Socceroos debut against Venezuela in November 2025, where he was named Player of the Match before earning his place as Australia’s first-choice goalkeeper and starting all four of the Socceroos’ matches at the FIFA World Cup.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said Beach’s journey reflected both his own dedication and the environment that had supported his development.
“Patrick’s journey at Melbourne City is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when talent is matched with hard work, resilience and the right environment,” Petrillo said.
“From the day he arrived, Patrick embraced every challenge. Nothing was handed to him and he earned every opportunity through his commitment to improving every day.
“We’re incredibly proud that the environment we’ve built at Melbourne City has helped support Patrick’s development from one of Australia’s brightest young goalkeepers into an A-League Champion, Socceroo, Australia’s first-choice goalkeeper at the FIFA World Cup and now a player who has earned the opportunity to continue his career in France’s Ligue 1.
“It’s also another example of the pathway that our Club, as part of the biggest football group in the world can provide to young Australian players”.
“Patrick leaves with our sincere thanks for everything he has contributed to the Club. He’s been an outstanding representative of Melbourne City both on and off the pitch, and we wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
Beach reflected fondly on his three seasons with Melbourne City.
“The last three years at Melbourne City have shaped me so much, both as a player and as a person,” Beach said.
“This Club has given me the opportunity to challenge myself every day, improve my game and ultimately fulfil my dream of representing the Socceroos and Australia at the FIFA World Cup. I’ll always be incredibly grateful for that.
“My teammates, coaches and all of the staff have played such an important role in my journey, and I’ll leave with friendships and memories that I’ll carry with me forever.
“I want to thank everyone at Melbourne City, and especially our fans, for the support they’ve shown me from the moment I arrived. I’ll always look back on my time here with enormous pride.”
