Australia Cup: Round of 32 opponent confirmed

Melbourne City FC will take on Newcastle Olympic FC in the Australia Cup Round of 32, following Wednesday night’s live draw.

This will mark the first ever meeting between teams, with City’s opponents currently playing in the NPL Northern NSW competition.

Olympic currently sit sixth on the table after four wins from their first 12 matches this season.

This Round of 32 fixture will be City’s first competitive match of the new season and could also be fans’ first glimpse at new signings Callum Talbot and Richard van der Venne.

Winners of the Cup in 2016, City most recently went out on penalties in the quarterfinals of the 2021 competition so will be raring to go for this year’s campaign.

Match details will be confirmed in due course and will be announced across our Club channels as soon as possible.
