We confirmed our final A-League Women signings earlier this month, and now we’ve got all of the squad numbers for you! Our returning seven players from last season will all be seen with the same numbers on their backs in 2021/22, headlining them is Captain Emma Checker in number ‘15’. Rebekah Stott will once again take up the ‘13’ shirt she had previously worn throughout her time at the Club where she won four Championships and two Premierships.
City’s Academy has been a production line of talent for Australia’s national teams for years now, and that trend doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Midfield young gun Connor Metcalfe in June made his Socceroos debut, doing so in the same game as Denis Genreau after the pair spent years coming through the ranks of City’s Academy together. The duo joined Daniel Arzani as City Academy products to have represented Australia at senior level - and looking at the recent Olyroos Olympics squad - you’d imagine there will be plenty more in years to come.
Melbourne City FC is happy to announce the re-signing of Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo until the end of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. Kisnorbo’s first season in charge of City’s Men’s squad couldn’t have been any more successful, leading the team to both the Premiership and Championship. He remained at the Club following his playing retirement in 2016 and previously coached both City’s Youth and Women’s team before taking up the role as Men’s Head Coach last season.
Melbourne City FC can today announce changes to its coaching team ahead of the new season. Assistant Coach Des Buckingham will depart the Club to take up the role of Head Coach at City Football Group sister club, Mumbai City FC.
A little over 18 months ago Tom Glover was City’s number two goalkeeper – but circumstances can change very quickly in football. Today, he is not only the Club’s number one, but an Australian Olympian and owner of A-League Mens Premiership and Championship medallions. Glover joined City little over two years ago, but the former Tottenham youth shot stopper didn’t simply walk into the starting XI.

Melbourne City record books were rewritten in 2020/21, with Jamie Maclaren and Scott Jamieson ascending to the top of the club’s goalscoring and appearances lists respectively over the course of the season. Season 2021/22 promises to be another big one for milestones in both squads, and attentions will first be turned to experienced campaigner Rebekah Stott.

Melbourne City FC is happy to announce the re-signing of defender Scott Galloway until the end of the 2024/25 A-League Men season. After joining City in 2019, Galloway has made 45 appearances and scored four goals in his time at the Club so far. The fullback was one of City’s best in its run to the Premiership and Championship double last season. He started each of the final 14 matches, recording two assists and scoring three goals – including one in the Grand Final.
Melbourne City FC can announce the signings of New Zealand defender Marisa van der Meer and midfielder Meisha Westland for the 2021/22 A-League Women season. The young duo are City’s final signings ahead of the new season, which is set to kick-off on Friday 3 December. van der Meer recently received her first international call-up and was part of the Football Ferns’ squad for the Tokyo Olympics, although she is yet to receive her first cap.
