Melbourne City FC is pleased to announce the re-signing of winger Marco Tilio on a two-year extension that will see the 20-year-old remain at the Club until the end of the 2023/24 season. After joining City ahead of last season, the young winger worked hard to build his fitness and learn the Club’s style of play. That hard work paid off as an opportunity to break into the starting XI presented in the second half of the season and Tilio grasped it with both hands.
We are happy to today confirm Olyroos call-ups for defender Jordan Bos and midfielder Taras Gomulka ahead of the upcoming AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. This marks the first under-23 call-up for both players, who last week departed Melbourne for Dubai. Gomulka has made 13 Isuzu UTE A-League appearances, including eight in his first season at City in 2020/21. Bos is still awaiting his senior debut but has impressed since joining the Club’s Academy in 2016 and recently signed a contract extension until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Melbourne City FC can today confirm the appointment of John Maisano as the Academy’s NPL Senior Head Coach. Maisano boasts a strong resume and will bring a wealth of football knowledge and experience to City’s Academy. He replaces Petr Kratky who was recently promoted to the Senior Men's squad as Assistant Coach under Patrick Kisnorbo. Maisano joins from NPL club Bulleen Lions where he has been Head Coach since 2018 and was also Technical Director of the under-18 and 20 teams.
City’s Academy has been a production line of talent for Australia’s national teams for years now, and that trend doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Midfield young gun Connor Metcalfe in June made his Socceroos debut, doing so in the same game as Denis Genreau after the pair spent years coming through the ranks of City’s Academy together. The duo joined Daniel Arzani as City Academy products to have represented Australia at senior level - and looking at the recent Olyroos Olympics squad - you’d imagine there will be plenty more in years to come.
Melbourne City FC is happy to announce the re-signing of Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo until the end of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. Kisnorbo’s first season in charge of City’s Men’s squad couldn’t have been any more successful, leading the team to both the Premiership and Championship. He remained at the Club following his playing retirement in 2016 and previously coached both City’s Youth and Women’s team before taking up the role as Men’s Head Coach last season.
It's been a busy couple of weeks of W-League news coming out of the Club, with five signings being announced as the season draws closer. A big signing was announced last Wednesday with former Young Matilda Rhianna Pollicina confirmed to be pulling in the City blue in season 2021/22. The dynamic midfielder has made 13 W-League appearances and most recently played at the Newcastle Jets where she took out their Player of the Year last season.
