Melbourne Heart FC captain Fred could be out for up to a month, while Jonatan Germano faces at least one week on the sidelines.

Heart Head Coach John Aloisi said it was disappointing to lose the South American midfield duo.

“Fred is out for at least a month so that is his season over,” Aloisi said.

“It-s disappointing because he has had a very interrupted season and after that operation he had in the offseason he hasn-t fully recovered properly.

“Fred went to strike the ball and tore his quad muscle, so he-s had a tough time this season.”

Meanwhile Germano may be right to face Central Coast Mariners in Heart’s final match next weekend, but will miss the Club’s penultimate match against Brisbane Roar tomorrow afternoon.

“And Germano, like I said two weeks ago, the reason why I rested him – and people might see it as an excuse, why I did, but I see players every day in training and I can see if they are feeling heavy of looking flat,” Aloisi said.

“He didn-t have a good pre-season and so he was feeling flat and he strained his hamstring.

“He might be ok for next week against Mariners, but we-re not sure yet.”

“It-s a pity because he has had a difficult season too.

“If he can play next week it will be good; if he can-t, then he needs to make sure his body is right for a good pre-season.”
